A few years ago, at night, cramps in my feet woke me up – I didn’t know what to do and how to act in this situation. Since then it happened to me more than once, followed by sleepless nights, fatigue, and irritation. But I had to find a solution!

I searched for a long time in folk medicine for recipes that would relieve me of this problem, and I found one! I want to share it with you too, maybe it will help you…

  1. Pour 2–3 liters of warm water into a basin or bucket, dissolve laundry soap so that the water turns white like milk. That is, its concentration in the water must be high.
  2. Add 1 handful of baking soda and sea salt (any), stir until it dissolves, and add hot water.
  3. Stir again and add 10 drops of iodine.
  4. Put your feet in this solution up to the ankles for 15 minutes. During this time, the solution removes all pain from the feet.
  5. Wash your feet with clean water and dry them well.
  6. Apply moisturizing cream or medicinal ointment (you can use olive oil), massage, put on wool socks, and go to sleep.

Use the same solution 3 more times, each time warming it to a tolerable temperature and adding another 10 drops of iodine.

After preparing a new solution 3 times, do another 10–12 procedures (daily), then take a break and continue after 2 months if you still feel the need.

Important! For those who have vein problems (varicose veins and thrombophlebitis), make the solution not hot, but warm.

After the first procedure, I slept peacefully, and after 10 procedures I completely forgot how foot cramps once bothered me.

Now sometimes I still treat myself with this recipe, for prevention…

Laundry soap is one of those old-fashioned household staples that has been used not only for washing clothes but also in folk medicine and everyday life for many generations. Its composition (alkaline salts, natural fats, sometimes essential oils) gives it properties that can be surprisingly useful. Here are the main benefits:

1. Strong Cleaning Power

  • Removes stubborn stains from clothes, fabrics, carpets.
  • Dissolves grease and oil easily.
  • Works as an effective detergent without synthetic chemicals.

2. Natural Disinfectant

  • Its alkaline nature kills many bacteria and fungi.
  • Can be used to disinfect surfaces, kitchen boards, and even wounds in emergencies (folk use).
  • Helps clean cuts, insect bites, and minor skin infections when diluted.

3. Folk Medicine Uses

  • Foot soaks: Dissolved in warm water, it is used for relieving cramps, joint pain, fatigue, and swelling.
  • Anti-inflammatory: Applied as compresses for bruises, sprains, or even varicose veins (folk recipes mix it with salt or iodine).
  • Skin problems: Traditionally used for acne, eczema, and fungal infections because it dries out and cleanses the skin.
  • Cold and cough relief: In some traditions, soap compresses were applied on the chest to ease breathing.

4. Eco-Friendly Alternative

  • Made mostly from natural fats and alkali, it is biodegradable.
  • Contains fewer synthetic additives compared to modern detergents.
  • Safe for washing baby clothes in small amounts (because it leaves less residue).

5. Household Helper

  • Used for cleaning dishes, windows, and floors.
  • Can wash hairbrushes, sponges, and even pets (in diluted form, against fleas).
  • Removes unpleasant odors from fabrics and shoes.

Precautions

  • Laundry soap is very alkaline (pH around 11–12), so frequent direct skin contact may cause dryness or irritation.
  • Should not be ingested.
  • Always dilute for medicinal or cosmetic use.

Laundry soap is a cheap, multipurpose, and eco-friendly product. Beyond washing clothes, it’s used in folk remedies for cramps, skin conditions, inflammation, and infections. Thanks to its cleansing, disinfecting, and drying properties, it has remained a trusted natural solution for both home and health.
